    Instructor: Stephanie Trinneer

Welcome to music at John Rogers Elementary, where learning sounds great!

This year in music, students will be singing, playing various types of instruments, moving and listening to music, reading and writing music, as well as creating and improvising. Students will work with others and alone to explore, learn about, and perform the various elements of music.

Kindergarteners and first graders will be exploring pitch with voice and instruments as well as learning about beat and rhythm. Second graders will explore creativity through improvisation and composition. Third graders can look forward to learning how to play the recorder. Fourth and fifth graders will also be learning to play our new classroom set of ukuleles, as well as taking part in Seattle Symphony's Link Up program!

We must look forward to the time when all people in the lands are brought together through singing, and when there is a universal harmony. ~ Zoltan Kodály

Mrs. Blumhagen and Mrs. Trinneer have taught a dance unit to all students.  We will be showcasing  some folk and social dances from around the world from our unit at Rogers Heritage Night.
