John Rogers celebrates Black History

Black Lives Matter week is recognized as an opportunity to continue learning in alignment with the Black Lives Matter at School Movement’s (BLMAS) guiding principles, and act in ways that disrupt and transform the harmful legacies of racism and anti-Blackness in our schools. Seattle Public Schools affirms the rights of all Black students, staff, families, and community partners to experience safety, joy, and a sense of belonging in our schools and beyond.

John Rogers 4th and 5th grade students watched the documentary film Race to Be Human and participated in small group discussions about their experiences with race in school and at home. Special thanks to our PTA for purchasing this documentary and encouraging conversations about race among students and staff.
