School Leader Update: Casie Dimsey

Dear John Rogers families and staff,

I am pleased to announce Dr. Casie Dimsey has been selected as the interim principal of John Rogers Elementary for the 2023-24 school year. Principal Dimsey will replace Principal Brent Ostbye who is leaving Seattle Public Schools to focus on his family.

Principal Dimsey has more than 20 years of professional experience in education. She has served as a classroom educator, reading and math interventionist, guidance counselor, academic specialist, and school leader. Most recently, she served as assistant principal at Lafayette Elementary.

She considers herself to be a lifelong learner and pushes herself to find ways to build her knowledge and experience. Principal Dimsey holds her bachelor’s and master’s in psychology with a specialization in neuroscience. She recently earned her doctorate in educational and organizational leadership and learning from Seattle University. During her doctoral studies, she was selected to lead in the National Principal Leadership Academy through the Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators.

Principal Dimsey is excited to serve as the principal for John Rogers Elementary and looks forward to building strong relationships with students, staff, and families. She is committed to fostering a positive, equitable, and empowering environment that will support collaboration, innovation, shared decision making, and a culture focused on student learning and inclusive practices.

SPS will begin the search for a permanent John Rogers principal in spring 2024. At that time, SPS will share next steps with the community.

I want to thank Principal Ostbye for his leadership and service to John Rogers Elementary. Principal Dimsey began serving as interim principal on Aug. 7.

Please join me in welcoming Principal Dimsey to John Rogers Elementary!

Sincerely,

Dr. Brent Jones
Superintendent
